WBFF in Retrospective

The 4TH international Williamsburg Brooklyn Film Festival ended May 6, 2001. It was held at the historic Commodore Theater Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

This year's festival featured 80 films from 25 countries. Over 40 local and international directors attended the festival and over 30 leading actors. The audiences interacted with the filmmakers in Q & A sessions sharing issues, ideas, and arguments from around the world.

WBFF2001 was the step to next level, the best edition so far and a monumental artistic achievement. WBFF Brainstorm edition was technically flawless. Among the MCs was Alison Tocci, publisher of Time Out New York and Dean Olsher, host of "The Next Big Thing" on WNYC radio.

Since February 1999, our web site www.wbff.org has been visited by over 100,000 unique viewers and during the past month by an average of 3,500 visitors per day. The server that hosts the WBFF web site was hacked and destroyed on May 1, 2001, and although the attack consistently damaged our advertising campaign, over 4,500 people attended the six-day festival. (For info about the attack, contact our office.)

In order to deliver our program to as wide an audience as possible, WBFF is planning to showcase the 2001 film program on a weekly basis, and has already been offered three venues in Williamsburg. The future is looking bright for the WBFF. The WBFF connects filmmakers to audiences, films and distribution companies, media and sponsors.
