BIFF 2002 - Press Screenings

Brooklyn, New York (April 10, 2002) - Brooklyn International Film Festival invites you to the press screenings for three premieres by NYC-based filmmakers, as well as to the screening of Mike Figgis' East Coast premiere of HOTEL.

Will Nitch has uncovered a world operating just below the surface of our day-to-day existence, a world of cover-ups, conspiracies, and hidden agendas. Will has formed an plan for change: to assemble a secret society of women, the all-female equivalent of the notorious Skull & Bones Society.

Dir: Sergio Goes (USA, 2002, 35mm, 90 min, Documentary, color, World Premiere) Culled from two years of footage, 'Black Picket Fence' takes us beyond gangsta rap stereotypes with lyric moments of grim beauty and powerful vérité. A powerful rags to potential-riches story focused on the life of rapper TIZ in the midst of his East Brooklyn hustling.
BIFF will screen Black Picket Fence for the public at BMA at 9:15pm on May 2.

BIFF will screen Missing Persons for the public at BMA at 9 pm on May 1.

Dir: Mike Figgis (England/Italy, 2001, 35mm, 93 min, Feature, color, East Coast Premiere). In February 2002, Mike Figgis traveled to the Island of Lido di Venezia in the Venetian Lagoon accompanied by a cast of over thirty. Equipped only with the briefest of character outlines and lacking a script, the group lived, improvised and filmed under one roof. Out of their improvisations came 'Hotel'.
