Press releasesBrooklyn International Film Festival Receives Over 1,600 Films For 7th Edition of FestivalBrooklyn, New York (March, 2004) -The 7th Brooklyn International Film Festival (BIFF), the first international competitive film festival in New York, is proud to announce that as of their March 15th deadline, they have received over 1,600 film submissions from 71 countries. BIFF will choose 100 of these films to be shown during its competitive festival from June 4-13, 2004 at the Brooklyn Museum of Art (BMA). "We are thrilled by the response to our call for entries this year," said Marco Ursino, BIFF's director. "We look forward to discovering the best of these and sharing them with our festival audience." For the 7th year, while acknowledging the infinite ways to observe, understand, and connect to reality, the festival announces the "Stretch" edition. With Stretch, the festival widens its range. According to Marco Ursino, festival director, "Stretch is our own research about creative freedom, deception, ambiguity, distortion, and tolerance. Stretch is intended to promote both social and individual analysis, create an opportunity to evaluate ideals and models, and narrow the gap between who we are and who we would like to be". At the Festival, all the film directors are invited and recommended to be present. After the screening of their projects, each is invited to engage in a Q&A with the audience. Pre-Festival promotional showcases include: BIFF is a festival for and by independent filmmakers. BIFF's mission is to discover, expose, and promote independent filmmakers while drawing worldwide attention to Brooklyn as a center for the arts. BIFF is a non-profit organization.
