 When is the next festival?
BiFF's 13th edition is scheduled to run June 4-13, 2010.

 When is the next submission DEADLINE?
2009 Edition film submissions are now closed!
Submissions for the 2010 edition will OPEN in SEPTEMBER 2009.
For the June 2010 edition, the submission deadlines will be:
- Early Deadline: Postmarked by November 30th, 2009
- Final Deadline: Postmarked by March 16, 2010
Postmarked by = Submission packages can be mailed until the day of the deadline. + send me an email reminder when submissions open

 Where are the selected films shown?
The official venue of the festival is the Brooklyn Heights Cinema. + more info

 Will i receive feedback or comments on my film?
NO. Due to the high volume of submissions received every year, we are unable to provide feedback on your film.

 How many submissions do you receive every year?
For the past few editions the festival received over 2000 submissions. A live counter of the submissions received so far for the current edition is available at the statistics page.

 In which film categories do you accept submissions?
Categories: Feature Narrative, Short Narrative, Experimental, Documentary, Animation. + rules

 How many films do you accept in the festival?
We estimate that the next festival line-up will include about 120 films.

 Is the festival competitive?
YES. Through the resources of industry-related sponsors, the festival awards the winners with a total of approximately US $80,000 in film services and cash. + AWARDS

 Screening Format for selected films:
The projects selected for the Festival, if not available on a 35mm film print, will be projected in HDCam, Digi-Beta, Beta, DV-Cam or MiniDV formats. We accept both NTSC and PAL. Due to technical constraints, BiFF no longer accepts 16mm screening copies. + requirements

 Can I release my film theatrically or on broadcast television before the Festival?
Entries shall not have theatrical release or be broadcast anywhere in the U.S.A. before the last day of the festival. Previous screening at other festivals, as well as industry, press, and private screenings are OK.

 Which Preview Copy Formats do you accept?
Entries must be submitted on DVD. BiFF accepts both PAL and NTSC formats. Region 1 (US&Canada) and region 0 (no region) are preferred but we accept DVDs in all regions. We recommend that you TEST your disk on a stand-alone DVD player BEFORE sending it to our offices. + requirements

 Are there any time restrictions?
Narrative Features must be no less than 70 minutes. Narrative Short films not longer than 70 minutes. Documentary, Animation, and Experimental categories have no time restrictions. + rules

 Can I submit a work-in-progress or "rough cut"?
Works-in-progress are considered only if submitted during the LAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR THE FINAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE (between March 1st and March 16th). Fimmakers might submit a Work-in-progress only if the film is scheduled to be completed at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the festival (June). Please list directly on the tape/disk box which elements of your film are missing.
